A keep alive allows to us to monitor if a device is communicating at any given interval/period. This is useful for watching the device health status and to identify if the device is malfunctioning.

The keep alive is defined in the device’s Device Type screen. The communication status indicator will change according to the keep alive setting and compliance.

Note: You can also set up an ERROR Callback in the Device Type menu, this will inform your IOT platform that a device failed to communicate during the Keep Alive Delay. See callback documentation

Step-by-step guide

1. Go to your own device type in “Device type” tab.
2. Click on “Edit” button on top right corner
3. Modify Keep alive value (in minutes)
4. Click on “Ok” button
